The Peace Arch

Tracy took us to The Peace Arch today for a picnic lunch and some exploring.

Sophie was the leader of the pack.  She took the kids through some giant rhubarb...fun!

Sophie had a brochure that explained all the sculptures in the park.  The kids had to run around and find each sculpture.

This one is made out of drift wood.

The United States side...

The other side is Canada!  This is the closest my kids have ever been to Canada.

One more sculpture then off to see the Peace Arch.

Impressive...look at those little cuties underneath...they were impressed too.

The Peace Arch has been there since 1814.  It was fun to climb on too.

My kids learned a lot about the border and understood this was the boundary between their country and another country...it was fun to see their curiosity and hear all their questions.

We went over to the US Flag made from flowers.  The big kids placed their hands on their hearts and said The Pledge of Allegiance.  They did this all on their own.

So patriotic!

Then we went way across the field to see the Canadian floral flag.

Emma said, "are we really in Canada now?"

Yes Emma...you are!

Sophie was nice enough to take a family photo of us...in case you are wondering, Marc is in the San Juan Islands fishing with Raymond right now...we'll meet him there on Saturday.

Before we left the park we checked out the swings and relaxed a little.

Olivia thought this was pretty cool.

Marcus loves to swing.

He also loves his cousin Gia...so fun.  This was such a cool place; I'm so glad we went to see it.  It was a lot of fun to teach the kids about the different countries too.  The houses across the street here are actually in Canada...crazy!

Nice job - very patriotic! The Peace Arch is one of my favorite parks for sure. So much to see and do!
