Marcus and Urgent Care

Sadly, as we were cooking up our catch of the day at Raymond's house, Marcus decided to climb up his deck steps and proceed to miss a step and land directly on his chin...it was wide open so we got to visit North Bend's Urgent Care.  Marcus was a little scared at first, but the doctors were amazing and put him at ease.  The first bonus was Shrek was playing on the TV so that kept Marcus nicely distracted.

He was very brave as he waited for the topical numbing ointment to do it's thing.  He said it stung a little and wasn't too sure...but the doctors had another surprise to help him keep his mind off the stinging...

An Otter Pop!  Gotta love that!  Marcus even got to pick the color.  YUM!

I was so proud of Marcus.  He had to have 2 sets of shots that they put all over his chin.  He was so brave, even the doctors said he did amazing for his age.  He freaked out a little when they were doing the stitches; we discovered if we didn't cover his eyes and just let him see, he did awesome!  I held down his arms but he really didn't fight me.  Marc held his legs.  He got one stitch inside his chin and six stitches outside.  I did well too...I held it together for my poor little baby...until that last stitch.

Opps...I was looking down at Marcus when the room started to spin, my stomach started to hurt and I broke out into a cold sweat...I simply stepped back, whispered to Marc to hold Marcus' hands and I collapsed in the big chair that was behind me.  The doctors finished the last stitch on Marcus and then tended to me.  I had to sniff ammonia and hold my feet up until the color came back into my face.  I was so embarrassed!  Plus I felt bad that Marcus wanted me and I wasn't able to be there for him...how horrible!  They wouldn't let us go for 1/2 hour after that and made me drink a Gatorade too.  I have to say, I did love this urgent care.  The doctors made Marcus feel so comfortable and didn't make me feel too bad either.  They even told me that most Moms react that way and they were going to be impressed if I hadn't...I'm still so embarrassed though...normally I'm tougher than that!

So is it just me or does it look like Marcus could use some medical attention on his knees and legs in the first picture? So very brave Marcus and Mom - stitches are no treat for anyone. Glad everyone is on the mend.
