A Day in the Mountains

We decided to head up to the Idaho Mountains and do some mushroom picking yesterday.  The weather was beautiful...perfect for some hiking.

We had to cross a fast flowing stream.  There was a fallen tree just off the bank so the boys pushed it down over the stream for safe crossing.

Kevin got it all set.

We got everyone over safely.

And off we went.

The trail was amazing...there were some fallen trees that we did have to climb over though.

Marcus was impressed with the large pine cones.

Mushrooms!  We were searching for Merell's.

The kids got good at spotting and picking.

Nice one Olivia.

We did quite well.

Good work Emma!

We ran into a cabin along the way too.

We walked for about 2 1/2 hours then stopped here for lunch.

Then we headed back.

Fun times.

Sisterly love.

A quick break...

Almost there Marcus!  Just a little further...5 hours of total hiking...that's tough for a kid but all three made it and they did amazing.

The Huggins were our guides for the day.  This is Marc, Kevin, Oliver (exchange student from Denmark), and Brian...oh, and little Emma.  Sadly, I think this is the last photo that will come from my Cannon Camera.

The trip back over that stream did not go so smoothly on the way out.  I was trying to help Marcus over and ended up slipping and landing in the stream.  It was so fast moving; I was stuck!  Marc had to pull me out.  Unfortunately the camera was around my neck and got soaked!  I did manage to save the SIM card thank goodness (otherwise none of the pictures would have been here today)...but the camera is toast!  Marc grabbed his cell phone when we got back to the car to capture the moment...I'm soaked to the bone!  Nice!

This is our drive back...I originally planned to take a bunch of photos to show the lake in the background, but since the camera was out of commission and I was soaked...I only managed this quick picture from my cell phone.  Good thing my birthday is coming up...I'm thinking new camera???  In the meantime, thank goodness for cell phone cameras!

What a great day! I'm so glad your SIM card was able to save your pictures. And especially glad you safely made it out of the raging river.

So, sorry your day ended with you and your camera in the water.
