Scissors

What do you think of the girls' new hair cuts?  Ok, so you can't see Olivia's very well, but isn't Emma's cute?  I took them to a salon today to "fix" their hair...you might notice Emma's pigtails are a little uneven in yesterday's pictures...I've been able to do Olivia's hair well enough to hide hers...read on...

Funny story, okay, maybe not so funny...I did cry a little.  I came home from work on Friday and the girls both had cute little braids in their hair that Grami had done for them that morning.  Throughout the night they kept talking about cleaning up the hair for me...I pretty much ignored it.  While cleaning the kitchen after dinner I realized I was missing my kitchen scissors...but no one seemed to know where they were.  Then it was bath time.  I went to take out Emma's braids and found myself with full long strands of hair in my hand!  Then I realized her hair was super short, like all the way to her scalp short, in the left front...I freaked!  That was the worst of Emma's besides the little area in the back that had been cut just above her shoulders.  Olivia had cut a lot more...she has sort of a mullet thing going on right now.  We had to cut Emma's to match the cut she made in the back and we are now parting her hair to the left only to cover up the big bald spot until it grows.  It did turn out cute though.  The hairdresser said the only way to make Olivia's look better was to cut it really short...Olivia would not allow it though so it was cut just below her shoulders.  We need to keep it in an updo until it grows out.  I guess it's not the end of the world...hair grows!  But these two will never touch scissors again...that's for sure!

I did finally get the story of why they cut their hair.  I guess while Marc was mowing our fields the girls had gotten into some cocklebur and they were stuck in their hair.  Marc just told them to go take a shower...but that didn't work.  Emma said Olivia was crying so hard because they wouldn't come out of their hair so Emma decided the best solution was to cut them out!  When I asked why they didn't just wait until I got home they said they knew it would take a long time for me to get there and they wanted them out.  Emma actually said "Mommy, I just couldn't stand to see Olivia cry anymore!"  I'm just so glad this happened AFTER the wedding!

Weekend Visitors

My sister and her family came to visit us this weekend.  They were looking for a place to relax since they are in the middle of a remodel project on their house right now.  I was so excited when she called and asked if she could come hang out with us!  We decided to show them Green Bluff.  Raspberries were in season so we headed to the raspberry patches...but not before taking a quick Cousin Picture.

The raspberries were ripe and ready!

Aiden thought this was pretty cool.

All the cousins really enjoyed themselves.

We got quite the haul.  I actually made 8 jars of jam out of our pickings this morning!

My sister and her beautiful family.

Next we picked some nectarines.  They weren't quite as ripe but still lots of fun to pick.

We headed to a different orchard for some more picking.  This is the same place we get the pumpkin spice doughnuts in the fall...they have them in the summer too!  So while we rode the "Country Limo" to our next picking destination, we enjoyed some yummy doughnuts!

Our next picking adventure was Cherries!

We stuck to the "reds".  Olivia was very brave climbing the ladder.

We found Marcus hiding in the shade.  He was making sure these cherries were safe to eat.  Marc said this looks just like Poppi!  Guess the "cherry" doesn't fall far from the tree...hehehe.

Mother and daughter...my sister, Sabrina with my niece and Goddaughter, Taylor...she'll be a senior this year!

The little kids with their cherry haul.

Emma enjoying the sun and the ride.

Next we hit the lake.  We found a great beach.

The kids cooled off in the water.

Swim Aiden!

Olivia took a quick picture of Marc and me :-)

Tanealya and Olivia.

All the kids, back row Marcus (4), Taylor (17); middle row Riley (11), Tanealya (20), Emma (6); front Aiden (7), Olivia (6).  We were so glad to hang out with everyone...what a great weekend!  We will definitely have to do this again real soon!

The Reception

This is Amber and Aaron.  Amber was introduced to our family this weekend and we all agree...she's a keeper.  She fit right in.  No matter what job we threw at her, she went at it with full force.  Amber is the reason I got pictures of the baptism and ceremony.  Thanks Amber!  These two also stayed up late Friday night getting a slide show ready for the reception.  My mom had almost given up on it when Aaron and Amber saved the day.  It was amazing!

The bride and groom's first dance was spectacular.  They blew us away with a choreographed waltz.  They really set the bar high for the rest of the night.

The beautiful cake made by Mom of course.  Mom actually outdid herself with a candy station too.

She also made this desert table and all the decorations.  The deserts were so good.  I think we were all on a sugar high by the  time we left.  The kids really loved all that sugar!

Poppi was there too.

Bride and her son...so cute!

The father daughter dance was another choreographed number.  It was tons of fun to watch.  You could tell they were having a ball.

Speaking of Fathers and daughters :-)

Cutting the cake proved to be entertaining as well.

They were not nice to each other, but it was fun.

Marc was sure to get in his father daughter dances too.

Smooch!

Grami was there too!  Grami and Poppi really helped out a ton.  They were at the reception hall bright and early helping with the decorations.  Mom said she couldn't have done it without them.  Thanks Grami and Poppi!

Emma wanted to dance with Marcus; he was being shy.

It didn't take long for him to warm up though.

Since my co-maid of honor, Sabrina, did a reading at the ceremony I got to give the speech at the reception.  Unfortunately I didn't know about it until right beforehand so I had to "wing" it.  The best man was much more prepared; his speech was written down on a napkin on the airplane.  Hopefully my speech was OK...I honestly don't even know what I said.

The bouquet and garter toss were a success...these were the two lucky recipients...Emma and Riley.  It will be a LONG time before we see either of their weddings though...

The night ended with lots of dancing and even karaoke.  It was a blast!  Marcus showed off all of his moves and everyone was impressed.  Emma actually sang "Dynamite" by Tao Cruz and did an amazing job.  Mom videoed it...I can't wait to see!

Little Jaxon didn't last too much longer...he was exhausted but Papa took good care of him.

Olivia got to steal one dance with the groom before the night came to a close.  It was one of the best weddings I've been too.  Everyone involved did an amazing job.  Congratulations Tavein and Jared.  Thanks for inviting us to be a part of your big day!
