This morning we woke up bright and early, ate some breakfast and then it was time for the boat races. Here are our kids (minus
Gia...she didn't want to be in the picture but did have a cute boat). Marcus was very proud of his boat.

This little guy walking with Emma told her that
her's was too big and that it would sink. I was so proud of her; she just looked at him and said "We'll just have to see".

The kids went to one bridge and dropped their boats off there at the same time.

Then we all ran down to the next bridge a few blocks away and deemed that the finish line. Marcus was quite upset at first because when his boat hit the water it broke. It did end up finishing in pieces, but they were all together so he got the whole thing back.

It was quite fun to watch the boats come down the creek. Surprisingly they actually came close enough to shore that we could stand on the side and reach in to grab them.

Emma's boat actually won! She was so proud. The Buckaroo ended up being a great boat!

We watched almost all the boats cross but Olivia's was nowhere to be found. It never did show up. We even walked back to see if it got hung up somewhere. She was devastated. We finally came up with a theory that her boat actually won and it was so fast that we couldn't get there in time. She liked the sound of that and perked up quickly.

After the boat races, the friend who had the idea for them ended up buying all the kids ice cream.

What a nice treat!

Olivia decided her boat was having an adventure. We all talked about how it was on it's way to the ocean and it was going to see great things. The kids even said that next time we go to the ocean we should look for it. They are convinced we will find it there. I'm sure with
their memories they won't forget either. Next time we go to the ocean, we will be searching for a little boat with Olivia's name written on it.
