First Day of School!

Can you believe these two are old enough to go to school? Me either! (sniff, sniff, sob, sob)...well today was the day! I actually had to wake them up this morning, but once we got going, all was well. They picked out their outfits last night and got dressed the moment they woke up.

They brushed their teeth, had their chocolate milk and a banana (that's all I could get them to eat) and then by 6:45am we were out by the road waiting patiently for the bus (which was supposed to arrive by 6:45am).

The bus got to the house at 7:00am! They were so excited, they could hardly wait! The driver's name is Dora and she was super sweet.

They were told to pick a seat and they hopped in the fist one they saw. Then off to school (again...sniff, sniff, sob, sob).

Marcus and I waited until 7:30am and then headed to the school to see the girls. We actually got there a little late...they had already arrived! We got to take pictures of them at their desks. Emma was all grins.

Olivia was pretty excited too. They are in the same class and their teacher's name is Mrs. Jones. We have met Mrs. Jones a few times already so they already knew her.

I think Marcus was a little overwhelmed. He was unusually still and quite. The girls did give him a great big hug when they saw him; it was pretty sweet.

The teacher made a big speech about how hard this was for the parents and had them all say "I love you" and then wave goodbye (sniff, sniff, sob, sob)...(and yes, I'm tearing up a little as I type this...).

I took the day off today to hang out with Marcus. We ran into town to Les Schwab to get the tires rotated. Marcus was such a good boy the whole time!

The girls requested a "First Day of School" cake so this is what I came up with. I might not win any cake decorating contests, but I think it turned out pretty cute. Hope the girls liked it. Only 2 more hours until I see them again! I can't wait to hear about their day!

Great story, Great Cake. Hard to believe the girls are in kindergarten already. I can remember the first day they came home from the hospital. Where does time go?
