Marcus Graduated!

Graduation Day was yesterday! Marcus looked so handsome and so grown up! He wore his medals and FFA cords. We took just a few photos before the ceremony, Nana and Papa got one and Jordan was over so we grabbed one with him. Then Marcus was off to gradutation. We were pretty high in the bleachers and he couldn't actually find us during the ceremony. I could see him looking for us with each picture I took. They let the kids decorate their hats this year, Marcus put his sisters in charge of that...Go Mt SAC Football!  The ceremony was perfect, just under an hour. We got a great family photo, we missed Grami and Poppie due to Grami being under the weather (get well soon Grami!). Overall it was an amazing day. Marcus and I ended the night at the Senior All Nighter wich was super fun too. It was a late night, but so worth it. Congratulations Marcus! We Love You!

Senior Awards Night

Tonight was Senior Awards night. Marcus told me he was pretty sure he wasn’t getting anything but I had a feeling he was. He got the Safford Award which is Male Athlete of the Year!  His name is on the trophy and it’s displayed in the school trophy case. Fun fact, Emma got it her senior year too so her name is also displayed. And Olivia and Emma are on the 4year/12 varsity letter trophy so the Oergel's have left their mark at Riverside. Marcus also received the Toner’s scholarship and Citizenship Award. We are so proud. Way to finish strong Marcus!

State Track 2026

We drove to Yakima and back in one day. We wanted to be there to support Marcus at State! Marcus gave it his all, but it just wasn't his day. He did clear 5'10" but it wasn't enough to make the podium. We are still so proud of him for making state! This is sadly the last Riverside athletic event our kids will participate in...the end of an era. It was a good run, I think the kids learned a lot overall and every lesson will carry them into the next phase of their lives. Can't wait to see what's next!

Districts Day 2...Marcus is going to STATE!

Day 2 of districts started off with high jump. Marcus cleared 5'8" on his first attempt. Then he cleared 5'10" on his first attempt. The he cleared 6' on his second attempt. He was the only jumper left so already secured 1st place. Then he went for more...he cleared 6'2" on his first attempt!  WOW! What a day! I have to admit, I got a bit teary eyed. We are so proud...the crowd was really watching and the cheering was amazing. This kid can do anything! So fun to watch! When he was on the awards stand, I was at the top of the bleachers taking photos with my long lense...he spotted me and had his high jump buddies pose for me...I just love that!

He placed 5th in 200 so he got an award for every event he entered. He will go to State for high jump, his favorite event.

Congratulations Marcus!
