We drove to Yakima and back in one day. We wanted to be there to support Marcus at State! Marcus gave it his all, but it just wasn't his day. He did clear 5'10" but it wasn't enough to make the podium. We are still so proud of him for making state! This is sadly the last Riverside athletic event our kids will participate in...the end of an era. It was a good run, I think the kids learned a lot overall and every lesson will carry them into the next phase of their lives. Can't wait to see what's next!

Districts Day 2...Marcus is going to STATE!
Day 2 of districts started off with high jump. Marcus cleared 5'8" on his first attempt. Then he cleared 5'10" on his first attempt. The he cleared 6' on his second attempt. He was the only jumper left so already secured 1st place. Then he went for more...he cleared 6'2" on his first attempt! WOW! What a day! I have to admit, I got a bit teary eyed. We are so proud...the crowd was really watching and the cheering was amazing. This kid can do anything! So fun to watch! When he was on the awards stand, I was at the top of the bleachers taking photos with my long lense...he spotted me and had his high jump buddies pose for me...I just love that!
He placed 5th in 200 so he got an award for every event he entered. He will go to State for high jump, his favorite event.
Congratulations Marcus!
ABC
Our Active Book Club (aka ABC) started the day with a hike and garbage pickup in Liberty Lake. We discussed “The Frozen River”, an amazing and highly recommended book.

Districts for Track Day 1
Marcus competed in the 4x100 finals and 200 preliminary on Day one of Districts. They were in Colville. The first event was the 4x100, I saw his team warming up when I got there, Marcus even spotted me and waved...I just love that! They placed 3rd in the relay, but their time was not strong enough to make it to state so that was the last time they would race together...good job boys! Marcus placed 5th in the 200 which was enough to get him to finals on Friday. Go Marcus!
