Math is Cool
The girls have been working hard to prepare for the Math is Cool competition which was Friday. They were bused from School at 3pm to Whitworth University. They had individual testing from 3:30 to 6 and then we got to come join them. They all had pizza for dinner.
Alyson, Emma, Lexie and Olivia taking their dinner break.
Chattaroy Elementary had 4 teams of 4 kids. Emma, Jacob, Olivia and Cody were one team.
We got to watch them compete in the College Bowl. The had a string they could pull when they knew the answer the Proctor was asking. It made a beep and everything! It was like watching a game show. They actually did really well...they had several rounds.
Then it was award time. The first awards were to Top Individual Performer from each school. Our little Emma was Chattaroy's Top Performer! She went down to get her prize.
We were so proud of her!
Look at that sweet smile...I love it!
Next was divisional awards. Chattaroy Elementary placed 4th in their division! They all ran to get their ribbon...Look at Olivia's huge smile.
The girls were so proud!
The school gets the plaque; the girls were just holding it for a picture for me.
Emma wanted a picture of her cool award...a stainless steel water bottle. Also her 4th place ribbon.
Cool bottle, don't you think?
The girls had such a great time...they have been going to school early every Friday to prepare for this and it all paid off.
The back of their shirts had all the Chattaroy kids' names on back. What a great event!

Science Fair
The girls worked hard on their Science Fair projects over spring break. Olivia did Melting M&Ms. She drew a circle in the center of a plate.
She got her M&Ms ready.
She glued them on the plate.
Then placed them in the microwave for 30 second intervals.
She checked and recorded her findings after each 30 seconds.
She thought the darker colors would melt faster than lighter colors but after 2 trials found out the lighter colors actually melted faster.
Emma did her experiment on which type of sponge would absorb the most water.
She poured the water in a large bowl.
Soaked each sponge and let it drain slightly.
She rung the sponge into a large beaker.
Then poured it into a smaller beaker and measured each amount from each sponge.
She thought the natural sea sponge would absorb the most but found the man-made cellulose sponge actually did.
The girls brought their projects to school and set them up.
Olivia is so proud.
Emma is too.
Emma decorated her board using sponges dipped in paint...very clever, don't you think?
Olivia put dots on her board and put little "m's" on each dot to look like M&Ms. Too cute.
Another Science Fair in the books! Both girls did a great job!

Spring Break
We headed to the coast for spring break again this year. We drove to Raymond's first; the Tilla's came with us. Jordan posed with James and Beau.
Raymond was nice enough to take our family photo. This is our first family photo with Lily!
Next we headed to Uncle Mark's house. The kids had a great time riding their bikes and walking Lily.
Thanks Mark and Shira for letting us stay!
We headed to Long Beach and began our clam digs. They were night digs this year so we set up our camp and headed straight to the beach. Marcus digging his first clam.
Olivia digs right in too.
Look Mom! I got one!
Handsome boy.
Emma and Marc digging away while Candy, the Repps dog, watches.
The kids did most of their own digging this year; it was pretty nice.
Everyone busy digging...Lily loved the beach, you can see her right in the middle of everything.
Emma and Olivia working hard.
How did you do Marcus?
Emma dug all 15 by herself!
Kid photo...too cute.
Kallie and the boys watch as Marc shows them how to dig...you can see Jordan in the background digging too.
Javin, Emma, Lexie, Olivia and Marcus. We couldn't get the Tilla boys to join the picture.
I tried for a Tilla Family photo too but I couldn't get Jordan to join and the little Tilla boys really didn't want anything to do with pictures.
I did get Javin, Michelle, Michael and Lexie though.
I think Lily got sand in her eyes.
Hi sweet Lily.
The next day we headed to Long Beach where Michael and Michelle's family was staying. They were right by the Long Beach Arch.
We walked around downtown Long Beach and saw all the little shops.
This is a Lewis and Clark statue.
This big clam shoots water...can you see it?
That's one big frying pan!
Then our family headed to the beach to walk and play. We tried for a family photo with Lily.
Then just us...opps...a little crooked.
The kids drew in the sand.
Love this.
Lily and Olivia playing on the beach.
Marcus joins them.
Marc does too.
The weather was fairly nice.
Emma was busy playing in the sand.
Marcus is getting way to big.
Another clam dig in the evening. Look at those girls and their clams. They did so great.
Nice one Olivia!
Emma loves digging for clams.
I tried for another picture...Beau didn't want it though.
I'm not sure if James knew I took this one. So sweet.
Little Lily enjoying the beach.
What a great dog! She did so well and really did seem to love it.
Some things don't change...Marcus waist deep in the water.
At least he's smiling.
Michael and Marc...I love how Marc has his last name on his clothes still...even in his forties.
Michelle was nice enough to take our family beach photo.
Nice one!
I took one of their family too.
Say cheese!
Our campground had a great cleaning station. The kids got to work cleaning while Lily guarded them.
Great work kids!
Last day, we went for a group photo. The Tilla's left already so they didn't make this photo. We tried for a photo with the dogs.
I forgot to tell everyone my camera was taking two photos.
Another try with the dogs...not too bad.
We tried for a different angle but the dogs were pretty much done...this turned out great! We had another great spring break at the beach! So glad our friends could join us again this year!
