Lake Fun!

Marcus and Justin went on a lot of kayak runs.

So nice to have such good friends.

Hi Handsome!

We got to ride on our friend, Steve's, boat.  I didn't really get to drive, but it was fun to sit in the driver's seat for a bit.

Marc surfed behind the boat.

Look at that smile!  It's been a long time since we have done the boating thing.

He was a natural as always...but Marcus had to give him some instruction anyway...too cute.

Marc was up for a while.

Surfing all around Priest Lake.

Then it was time to relax.

My turn!  I have not done anything like this since before I had kids...11 years ago!  I made a good attempt.

Oh...not looking too good.

It really is harder than it looks.

This is looking promising...sadly I fell again.

One more try!  I think I might have it!

Whoa!  A little shaky.

I am determined and the crowd is cheering.

I did it!

Then I wasn't quite sure what to do after that.

But it was fun for a bit!

Now that I look at these pictures I see my mistake...I should have turned the board more forward...

Opps...oh well...it was fun while it lasted!

The girls went on another friends' boat and had a blast tubing.

So cute.

Marcus went back to the kayaks.

This morning we woke up bright and early and the girls jumped on the kayaks and went a long ways out.

They had such a great time catching up with everyone.  What an amazing weekend we all had!

Spartan Race

Saturday was Javin's birthday party.  This year the kids did a Spartan race.  The girls were ready...only 4 girls!

The boys were excited...there were eight boys total!

Here are the Spartans!

Michele made these cool shirts.

The teams were picked...somehow Emma ended up on an all boys team.

All the other girls ended up together.  

Ready, set, go!

They had to run to the back of the house and up a hill and down another hill...

Then they had to roll these reels up the hill again...

And run back down...this is Olivia's entire team working together.  They were in the lead at this point.

Then they had to pick up large wooden reels and carry them back to the house.

They were super heavy.

Great teamwork!

Next they ran back to the beach and had to hit the targets 3 times with spiked poles...the poles had rope tied to them so the kids just pulled them back and no one was in the line of fire...pretty clever.

Next they had to pull wooden pallets that had huge sandbags on them.  

They were pretty even at this point in the race.

This was hard work...they had to walk all the way around the dock to the other side.

Emma and Marcus's team actually took the lead.

Next they had to army crawl on the beach.

Then they had to run into the water and lift these reels and everyone had to take a turn and swim under.

They each had 2 sets to complete.

Everyone had to swim under the mat.

Then run to the slide for the finish!

The winners were announced!

That's one happy Spartan team!  And the mastermind behind it all, Michele...what an amazing birthday party!
