Science Fair

The girls worked hard on their Science Fair projects over spring break.  Olivia did Melting M&Ms.  She drew a circle in the center of a plate.

She got her M&Ms ready.

She glued them on the plate.

Then placed them in the microwave for 30 second intervals.

She checked and recorded her findings after each 30 seconds.

She thought the darker colors would melt faster than lighter colors but after 2 trials found out the lighter colors actually melted faster.

Emma did her experiment on which type of sponge would absorb the most water.

She poured the water in a large bowl.

Soaked each sponge and let it drain slightly.

She rung the sponge into a large beaker.

Then poured it into a smaller beaker and measured each amount from each sponge.

She thought the natural sea sponge would absorb the most but found the man-made cellulose sponge actually did.

The girls brought their projects to school and set them up.

Olivia is so proud.

Emma is too.

Emma decorated her board using sponges dipped in paint...very clever, don't you think?

Olivia put dots on her board and put little "m's" on each dot to look like M&Ms.  Too cute.

Another Science Fair in the books!  Both girls did a great job!
