The girls got to play in Hoopfest this year. At least 2 members of the team have to be going into the 3rd grade and 8 years old. So we pulled together our team...Emma, Kaydin, Olivia and Kadence.
Marcus and Cruzy are too little so they got to cheer on their sisters.
The girls' first game was Saturday at 9am. They caught on right away to how this all works. Here's Emma with the ball.
Emma guarding...she was good!
Olivia looking for the pass. The girls won their first game! So the next game was scheduled for 12:30.
We took the kids to the Red Wagon for lunch and play time.
Marcus had a blast!
The girls got some touches on the ball.
Time for game 2. The boys were preoccupied with Ryan's phone for a while...but for the most part these two did great!
Game 2 was more of a physical game...Olivia even got her tooth chipped! Unfortunately they lost 6 to 4 so that meant a game at 6pm for these kids.
We got them all some shaved ice...yummy.
What a great treat!
Quick family photo.
We decided to hang out at Marc's shop and rest up and get out of the sun. The kids wanted to go check out the new park near by though.
There are cool views of the falls.
Dinner was Pizza at Rock City Grill.
Then back to the courts for more basketball. Here is the team with their coaches, Ryan and Marc.
The girls played their hearts out. A loss meant go home for good...a win meant back tomorrow morning. Olivia made a lot of baskets...this was her basket here.
The girls did so well, they improved with each game.
Emma is so great at defense...I love to watch her.
She makes a pretty good point guard too.
The girls won their last game 13 to 3! So that meant they earned a chance to play on Sunday!
We met up with a tough team our first game.
The girls did so well, they even had plays. They set screens and scored off the screens and everything. We were so proud.
Sadly we only got one game Sunday morning...they lost 10 to 8. They were so disappointed but they were good sports. This little group is pretty competitive...can't wait to see them play in the years to come. Overall we had an amazing first Hoopfest experience...All of these girls want to come back for more next year.
